Fellow Alumni Members,
Greetings! Graduation Season is about to begin for some, and for those who have college age kids or grand kids it may even have begun already. So we are all super busy.
As you should know, this weekend is Mothers Day weekend. In order to give everyone a breather from so many meetings we will not meet tomorrow for the Presidents’ Roundtable. Instead, we will meet in August as scheduled.
It is also important to remind you of the following dates/meetings. As you can see June will be a busy month!
- Labor Day in Jamaica is Thursday, May 23rd, and a team of UJAA Board members will be in Jamaica at Industry Cove Basic School (ICBS) as part of our Labor Day project in Jamaica. The team will be painting, rehabilitating plumbing and sewage lines, and doing general cleanup of the schools grounds. New windows have been ordered and are expected to be delivered in time for this project. A security cage has already been installed around the school’s propane gas tank. The team is also looking to establish a kitchen garden on that day. You can assist by donating cash via Zelle to ujaanewseditor@gmail.com. If you have associates in Jamaica who want to donate they can help us with paint and other supplies as we look to spruce up the entire campus. Please reach out to Ansell Willliams, Wilbert Davis or Melanie Forrest-George if you wish to help/donate. Of course, if you can stop by or contribute locally it would be greatly appreciated.
- Our next General Meeting is this coming Wednesday at 7:00pm. Look out for the Zoom details and other documents over the weekend.
- Preparations are underway for the FIRST Lego League competition in Kingston on Saturday, June 29th. Our Primary Schools associations are busy and excited about the upcoming competition.
Finally, we now know the site of the FIRST Global 2024 Robotics competition. Athen Greece, here we come!!!! Stay tuned for much more from the Robotics team and the MPR team!
