Dr. Paula Carole Morris (nee Daley-Morris) is an educator extraordinaire, who is also the mother of two daughters and the recipient of two grandchildren. In 2009, she was conferred with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Education- Information Technology from the School of Education, University of the West Indies, Mona. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Teaching and Curriculum from the University of Rochester. The Master of Science in Instructional Technology, an Advanced Diploma in Computing, and a Bachelor of Science in Communication Arts in the field of Advertising from New York Institute of Technology. She is also the holder of a Diploma in Teaching from GC Foster College of Physical Education and Sport. She currently  holds multiple certifications in STEM Education from Project Lead the Way in the United States of America.

Dr. Morris served as 2nd Vice President of the STATHS Alumni Association’s Jamaica Chapter, prior to joining the St. Andrew Technical High School Alumni Association Northeast Chapter, USA Inc in 2020. She has served as Public Relations Officer, Assistant Public Relations Officer, and on the Fundraising, Nominations and Magazine Committees. Over the short tenure she has made pioneering contributions to her Association as follows: introduction of a digital system called election runner to conduct the 2020 elections; introduction of zoom video conferencing  to conduct meetings; developer of the virtual concert & party concept for fundraising, during the COVID-19 pandemic years of 2021-2022, which raised over $11,000.00 towards the purchase of a school bus for STATHS. She is also responsible for the introduction of the digital point of sale technology in 2022 to manage the cashier process during the fish fry fundraiser, which has, to date, helped STATHS AA NE to realize profits of approximately $10,000.00 in 2022 and over $13,000.00 in 2023. In March 2023, she spearheaded the Inaugural Giving Day at STATHS; a marketing initiative which was held in Jamaica on the school grounds. The event provided a platform to give to our school: a 30-seater coaster bus, teaching engines, newly renovated netball and basketball courts, netball uniforms and new basketball back boards. She makes contributions of kind and cash to the efforts of her alumni body, i.e., provision of desktop publishing as well as typesetting services, and printing of flyers, brochures, event tickets, free of costs. She remains the main fundraiser for the school’s netball team and has raised more than $3,000.00 USD to meet varying needs of the team. She is also an active member of the GC Foster College of Physical Education and Sport Alumni Northeast Chapter, a past President of the Jamaica Chapter and have served as the alumni representative of the institutions board for five years.

Professionally speaking, she has blazed many trails in the field of Information Technology and Education throughout her life. She has held many first employment roles in key organizations in Jamaica and the United States of America.  For example, she served as Jamaica’s first Education Officer of Information Technology in the Core Curriculum Unit, Ministry of Education Youth & Culture between 1995-1998. She was first to be appointed to the post of  Lecturer of Information Technology in the School of Education, of  the University of the West Indies, Mona, a post which she held for 22 years. Over the tenure in higher education, Dr Morris authored & co-authored books, monograph, and refereed journal publications on topics like: Computers in Education; Information Technology; social media among youths, texting as praxis, and integrating computers into the curriculum. She served as research and education consultant for many projects and initiatives granted by organizations such as USAID, World Bank/IDB; UNESCO; CARICOM; The University of the West Indies, Consulting (on the University of Guyana and ACTI Projects), and the Ministry of Education, PEIP II Project. She has held multiple national leadership offices in sports, serving the Jamaica Basketball Association as General Secretary and Female Commissioner. She served netball in the capacities of President of Netball Jamaica (2015-2020); Vice President, Netball Jamaica (2013-2015); Council Member (2006-2011); Chief Statistical Analyst (World Cup 2003), Team Performance analyst (World Cup 2007), Head Coach U-21; Assistant Coach Sunshine Girls.

In terms of her service in the field of Education within the United States of America, she was also the first to be appointed as Chief Instructional Technology and Innovation Officer, in the Charter Management Organization in Long Island, USA, where she is currently employed.  She continues to give yeoman’s service to the fields of Information Technology, Instructional Technology, STEM and STEAM education leadership, through this appointment. Her duties have included groundbreaking work in the areas of computer network design and development, school based  cyber security infrastructure development ; virtual learning environment design and development, which proved necessary during the COVID-19 pandemic.  These developmental opportunities caused her to gain exposure to new areas of the IT field like hardware and software acquisition as well as dissemination, IT asset management, device maintenance, Microsoft systems administration as well as cyber patrolling. In terms of duties in STEM Education, those include oversight for the teaching and learning of hydroponics , computer app development; robot automation and robotics, loco drone technology K-12; Information Technology, Drone Technology, Cyber Security and computer programming in block, python, and java. She also provides curriculum oversight for the teaching and learning of music, dance, drama, and visual arts programs.

Dr Paula Carole Morris considers herself to be a natural leader who is fixated on volunteerism for nation building.
