A true champion for children, Evelyn is dedicated to making sure children in the primary school sector in Jamaica can be successful in school and in life. Elected to the Union of Jamaican Alumni Associations (USA) Inc (UJAA) Executive Board in 2019 and assumed the role of Primary Schools’ Team Lead. Through her zeal for this sector, the improvement of Literacy and Numeracy training to primary schools led to a collaboration with Caribbean eBook Ltd and the Jamaica Teacher’s Association to launch the UJAA LearnIt Tablet Program to 14 Primary Schools across the island. She leads the Primary School team with a vision, which has implemented other prime initiatives such as the Adopt- A-Primary School Program (APSP) and the introduction of the FIRST Lego League Robotics Competition at the University of the West Indies in Jamaica in 2023, and collaboration of the Primary Schools Team Members to participate in several of UJAA’s programs both within the community and in Jamaica.
As President of the New Day School alumni Association NY Chapter Inc, through her passion to make sure the children at her alma mater are receiving the kind of literacy instruction they deserve she spearheaded the donation of 30 LearnIt Tablets, awarded several scholarships to graduates, donated 15 laptops and 7 tablets, donated two (2) water fountains, secured 40 Desktop Computers and printer to establish a Computer Lab, contributed to the current remodeling of the restrooms, created a Robotics Club and established a mentorship with Meadowbrook High School.
With over 30 years with Citi Private Banking, and having led several initiatives there, Evelyn has now transitioned to the Government sector, as a consultant at the Office of Mental Health. Evelyn holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from City University of New York, earned a Certificate in Computer Programming from Empire Business Institute, and a Certificate in Project Management Tools and Techniques from Hofstra University.
