With over 25 years of dedicated service to our homeland and community here in the US, UJAA has the mechanism to garner support for its programs. Our activities seek to foster long term partnerships with the local business community, and other organizations to collectively work together as one to improve the education and quality of life for students in Jamaica.
One of UJAA’s fundamental missions is to “Promote academic excellence at all levels of schools in Jamaica and in particular to improve education in Basic and Primary schools throughout the Island.” With this in mind, our projects are geared at improve the physical learning environment of the early childhood group, as well as providing educational supplies and materials. The High School Graduates Award Program (HSGAP) offers cash awards to graduating US high school seniors of Jamaican heritage who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their activities in school, community and/or workplace. Recipients are announced at the Annual Awards Ceremony, held on the last Monday in June. The Ceremony takes place in the presence of their peers, parents, teachers, and business and community leaders along with UJAA Executive Board and members. Read More
This project was started in 2009 in partnership with Rototech International, Inc. to provide Basic Schools throughout Jamaica with a regular supply of running water during the school day. The tanks are available in two sizes – 650 gallons and 800 gallons. The project plan included the distribution of 175 water tanks. To date, 145 tanks have been distributed. Read More
UJAA has formed successful partnerships with both the business and Not-for-Profit sectors within the community. We align ourselves with businesses whose social responsibility matches our mission and vision.
